BCT Academy of Performing Arts

Summer 2015 Academy

The Academy of Performing Arts at the Birmingham Children's Theatre, one of the nation's oldest and largest professional theaters for children, draws on a six decade legacy of educating and entertaining over twelve million children. Our curriculum instills fundamental childhood growth skills: teamwork, interpersonal communication, reading, comprehension, self-confidence, self-discipline and leadership; while fostering creativity, imagination and a playful curiosity. Academy instructors are highly qualified, working theatre professionals. Class enrollments are limited to ensure that your child will have access to one-on-one instruction. BCT Academy sessions culminate with a performance piece involving every child.

Registration Information

The BCT Summer Academy of Performing Arts is now accepting advance registrations for the 2015 Term. Classes are grouped by age, and any child ages 4K-10th Grade is eligible to attend. Previous acting experience is not necessary! Classes are guided by the Acting Techniques established by Richard Boleslavsky in the Stanislavski tradition. In addition to the specific Goals and Focus (noted below), each class will utilize singing, dancing, storytelling, reading, staging, designing and socializing as its core theatre curriculum. The BCT Academy limits class enrollment, ensuring your child will have access to one-on-one instruction. Advance registration is encouraged, as many class levels will fill up early. Maximum 16 students per class. No Audition Required.

Registration Deadline: Monday, June 1, 2015. Download application here.
