Young Actors

Young Actors Theatre

Join in the fun with BCT's Young Actors Theatre Academy!

With theatre classes, productions, one-on-one instruction, and expanded performance opportunities designed especially for students from Pre-K through the 12th grade, there is literally something for every child at BCT.  Young Actors Theatre will foster a positive, educational climate where every child and teen can explore the world of theatre year round with seasoned performers and teachers.  Every child will have a place to develop and mature and no child will ever be turned away.

YAT Academy classes are cumulative in nature, and designed to grow with your child. Theatre is an art to learn and appreciate throughout one's life. With that in mind, YAT Academy classes are structured to build upon skills learned from year to year as your child's social, educational and communication skills mature.

The Young Actors Theatre Academy at Birmingham Children's Theatre is designed to inspire creativity, confidence and a sense of community through the exploration and practice of theatre skills.

Professional teaching artists lead students through engaging, interactive sessions in our rehearsal and performance spaces at the BJCC in downtown Birmingham. At BCT, we believe that, through theatre, every child can become more comfortable and confident with their own voices, bodies and ideas as well as become better equipped to work as a part of a team. National studies have indicate that students who actively participate in the performing arts have higher levels of self-confidence and greater comfort speaking, making presentations, and reading aloud.

No matter the background or experience, every child is welcome to study theatre arts as part of the YAT Academy, and no audition is ever required. Class sizes are kept small so that every child can receive one-on-one instruction, so register early!

BCT believes that all children should have access to an arts education!  For that reason, we have scholarships available to aspiring young talent.
