SCIENCE IS FUN

Our newest Cardboard Puppet Production, "Science is Fun" by Sina Skates, is about two best friends who don't see eye to eye on the subject of science. LaNell loves science (because science is fun)! Zane is not so sure about science (or what it even is). Join LaNell as he helps Zane discover why the scientific method is important, helpful, and (most importantly) FUN!

BCT is extremely excited to bring you this BRAND NEW digital content as we all continue to stay safe and shelter in place. We hope you enjoyed our puppet show today! In an effort to bring theatre to the homes of children in Birmingham and beyond, Birmingham Children's Theatre will be producing a series of original puppet shows. Select Wednesdays at 9am, a 10-15 minute show written, performed, filmed, and edited by the BCT team and special guests will premiere on our Facebook page and here, on our website.

This show would not be possible without the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham!

The scientific method has six steps:

1. Ask a Question.

2. Do some research.

3. Develop a hypothesis.

4. Design and perform an experiment to test your hypothesis.

5. Record your observations, analyze the results, and draw a conclusion.

6. Review your hypothesis. Were you right?

What questions do you have about the world around you? What do you think the correct answer is? Now that you have done the first two steps of the scientific method can you do the other four steps?

After you draw conclusions from your experiment, make a list of things you would do differently if you did the experiment again. Would you change a part of the experiment? Ask a different question?

Make those changes and do the experiment again. How were the results different the first and second times?

Congratulations! You are a scientist.
