Birmingham Children’s Theatre is seeking a Black actor for the role of Papa in Catching the Moon: The Story of a Young Girl’s Baseball Dream.

Production: Catching the Moon: The Story of a Young Girl’s Baseball Dream
Location: Birmingham, AL (BJCC – downtown Birmingham)

Catching the Moon is a new blues musical that tells the powerful, true story of Marcenia Lyle, a Black girl who defied expectations and became the first woman to play for an all-male professional baseball team. With the crack of a bat and a heart full of determination, Marcenia dreams of nothing more than playing baseball. Though others insist the ballfield is no place for a girl, she knows it is where she belongs. When a famous manager comes scouting for summer camp, Marcenia steps up to the plate, ready to prove she has what it takes. Full of rhythm, grit, and heart, this inspiring story celebrates courage, perseverance, and the power of dreaming big.
